Its gonna be hot as hell this week so i am just taking the engine pull in small steps and hopefully by Saturday i can have the engine out of the impala. Heres what i've accomplished so far.

The original engine had thrown a rod, so i was keeping an eye out for a 283 or 327 locally. I ended up finding a remanufactured 283 Longblock on craigslist for $700. Im going to be pulling the original engine either tomorrow or the day after.

The first encounter

I browse craigslist almost everyday, and one day i came up on a 1967 chevy impala fastback for $1200 with a blown original 283, the car had a couple bigger dents, some rust in the lower quarters and a hole in the rear passenger floorboard. I went to see the car in buda and the owner of the car Danny, was very happy to see a young kid at age 15 like myself wanting to buy his impala. He had purchased the car from the original owner, an elderly lady in 1994 who obviously liked side swiping people. After talking about the car for an hour or so, me and my dad thought about whether or not this would be a good buy for my first car and after making a call to a buddy who is in bodywork who thought it was worth $900, we headed out to dannys house with a hauler and $1000 cash and took it home the next day.
